Description:

The proposed project is located on the northern portion of State Route 110 (SR-110) referred to as the Pasadena Freeway, also known as the Arroyo Seco Parkway. The corridor was designated a National Scenic Byway in 2002 and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2011 as the Arroyo Seco Parkway Historic District (ASPHD). The ASPHD stretches from the Four Level Interchange in Downtown Los Angeles (US-101 and SR-110) northwesterly along a scenic three lane divided parkway through the cities of Los Angeles, South Pasadena, and eventually terminating in Pasadena. The corridor still reflects the original design and character envisioned when the roadway was built in 1939. The project is a Bridge Rail Replacement/Upgrade (SHOPPP 201.112) of the Avenue 43 Ramp Bridge (53-0985S) and the Arroyo Seco Channel Bridge (53- 0276). The proposed project would remove the existing bridge railings on both bridges and replace then with a Concrete Barrier Type 836 with an architectural treatment on the exterior of the new bridge rail.
