The Federal Infrastructure Permitting Dashboard is an online tool for Federal agencies, project sponsors and interested members of the public to track the progress of a broad range of infrastructure projects that requires authorization or environmental review by a Federal agency.
It will track all “covered projects” subject to Title 41 of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act and all major DOT-led surface transportation projects subject to Titles I, IX, and XI that require an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and/or, after June 1, 2016, an Environment Assessment (EA), associated with the construction of transportation infrastructure. The Dashboard is also available for other Federal agencies to track additional projects which seek to benefit from the various benefits its use provides regarding transparency, predictability, and efficiency, even if not subject to FAST-41.
On July 8, 2016, a preliminary inventory of potential existing “covered projects,” as defined by FAST-41, were added to the Dashboard to facilitate early planning by Federal agencies to meet the requirements of the Act. Once this inventory is finalized, agencies involved with these projects will, as appropriate, develop a coordinated plan for each project and release a comprehensive timetable of dates by which all environmental reviews and authorizations should be made, and update additional project-specific information.
Interested project sponsors can find additional information here to determine if a new or existing project could be designated as a “covered project” under Title 41 of the FAST Act.
It is important to note that a project’s inclusion on the Dashboard does not imply Federal endorsement of or support for the project, or create a presumption that a covered project will be approved, favorably reviewed by any agency, or receive Federal funding. The inclusion of a pending project on the Dashboard may be reconsidered based on updated information related to, for example, the scope of the project and Federal review and authorization processes that are implicated by the project proposal.
