Description:

The Atwater-Merced Expressway (AME) is a proposed 7-mile long north-south transportation corridor located in the northeast portion of Merced County. The currently proposed project includes AME Phase 1B, which is the extension of the existing expressway from Green Sands Avenue to Santa Fe Drive, and AME Phase 2, which extends from Santa Fe Drive to a connection with Bellevue Road. This project went through the environmental review and document process in 2009. It is over 14 years old. The local agency (Merced County) wants to qualify for federal dollars and is therefore pursuing the possibility of NEPA documentation and environmental analysis. This project is on indefinite HOLD.
