Description:

The proposed FM 565 would consist of a four-lane divided roadway with two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, a 16-foot median, 10-foot outside shoulders, and a 2-foot curb offset between the inside travel lanes and median. Left- and right-turn lanes would be constructed at various intersections and cross-streets throughout the project limits, including at SH 99, Ameriport Parkway, and SH 146. The proposed FM 565 would be constructed within a typical ROW width of 120 feet to 184 feet. In areas where additional ROW is needed to accommodate new intersections, the existing and proposed ROW would measure up to a maximum of 472 feet wide.

A new grade separation would be constructed over the UPRR, consisting of a prestressed concrete I-girder bridge, and a new intersection of the re-designated FM 565 and the new extension of FM 1405 would be constructed 0.5 miles east of SH 146. An additional intersection of FM 565 and FM 1405 would be constructed approximately 0.2 miles west of the UPRR. West of Ameriport Drive, connection between the existing FM 565 frontage road and newly widened FM 565 would be constructed at two locations. Access to all adjacent parcels would be maintained. The proposed project would require the acquisition of approximately 15.5 acres of new ROW.

The proposed improvements would also consist of changes to the existing FM 1405, which currently consists of one 12-foot travel lane in each direction with a 16-foot center left-turn lane and 10-foot shoulders within a 300-foot typical ROW. The proposed FM 1405 would consist of one 12-foot travel lane in each direction, a 16-foot raised median or center left-turn lane (depending on location), 10-foot shoulders, and a 2-foot curb offset between the inside travel lanes and raised median. Left- and right-turn lanes would be constructed at various intersections and cross-streets. The proposed FM 1405 would be constructed within a typical ROW width of 145 feet. In areas where additional ROW would be needed to accommodate new intersections, the proposed ROW would measure up to 552 feet wide depending on location.  A total of 1,405 feet of FM 1405 pavement, including the entire existing FM 1405 at FM 565 intersection, would be removed.
