Description:

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is studying potential impacts of its Proposed Action to extend the existing Express Lanes (High Occupancy Toll [HOT]) along a section of the I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) from the I-95/I-395/I-495 interchange in Fairfax County, Virginia by approximately 11 miles to MD 210 in Prince George’s County, Maryland (hereafter, “study limits”). It is anticipated that the Proposed Action would be implemented largely within the Capital Beltway’s existing right of way. No widening of the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge is anticipated. While the I-95/I-395/I-495 and MD 210 interchanges provide logical termini for the study, it is assumed that improvements could extend beyond these points to ensure proper connections to the system, except at localized areas where ramp access points may be considered.
