Description:
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes a project to upgrade 10 bridges along the Interstate 5 (1-5) corridor from the Los Angeles River Bridge and Separation [post mile (PM) 27.07] to the Templin Highway Bridge (PM 67.0), 64.3 kilometers (km) (39.93 miles) (mi) across the San Fernando Valley and Santa Clarita Valley, ending within the Tehachapi Mountains at Templin Highway at the northern terminus. The project proposes to improve freight efficiency along 1-5 from State Route (SR) 134 to the Templin Highway Bridge in Los Angeles County by providing standard vertical clearance of 16 feet (ft)-6 inches (in), eliminating load capacity restrictions for heavy loads, and reducing the frequency of route closures due to maintenance.
