Description:

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), in coordination with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), Gateway Cities Council of Governments, and San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, proposes the Interstate 605 (I-605) Corridor Improvement Project (CIP) (I-605 CIP or project), which includes improvements to I-605 in Los Angeles County between Interstate 105 (I-105) and Interstate 10 (I-10). The I-605 CIP proposes to add freeway lanes on I-605 from Fairton Street undercrossing to 0.5 mile north of I-10. The proposed freeway mainline widening will accommodate a variety of potential configurations, which may include the addition of general purpose (GP) lanes, enhancement of high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes, implementation of Express Lanes, or a combination of the aforementioned. The project would also include improvements between I-605 and I-105 managed lanes, construct new High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on I-5 from south of Florence Avenue through the I-605 interchange, accommodate continuation of the HOV lanes on I-5 between the I-605 Interchange and Paramount Boulevard, include improvements along SR-60 from Santa Anita Avenue to 0.5 mile east of the Turnbull Canyon Road undercrossing, and include improvements along I‐10 from Peck Road to the Amar Road overcrossing.
