Description:

The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD) plans to improve and expand the existing Illinois Terminal facility to construct dedicated MTD, intercity, and rural bus platforms to reduce bus congestion. The existing Illinois Terminal building will be renovated to expand waiting areas and passenger amenities and create green space. The proposed mixed-use facility is located north of Logan Street and will be expanded to accommodate local buses, rural transit providers, intercity bus providers, passenger rail, ride share, pedestrians and bicyclists. The project will provide additional tenant space, retail, apartments, and a parking deck. The project is being completed as a Joint Development initiative and construction is anticipated to begin in late 2021.
