Description:

The proposed project includes a new bridge across the Mississippi River to connect LA 1 on the west bank to LA 30 on the east bank. The proposed project is being developed with a preliminary purpose: To provide increased capacity and improved connectivity across the MS River, and to provide an alternate route for emergency evacuations in response to incident-related closures. The new bridge is expected to be a tolled facility. In times of emergency evacuation, DOTD will suggest that the concessionaire suspend the toll. The estimated project cost is $1.5 Billion. This project will require a Section 404 permit from the Corps of Engineers, a Water Quality Certification from LADEQ, and a U.S. Coast Guard bridge permit. The approximate location of the bridge is 30°16'47.0"N 91°12'04.1"W
