Description:

Project Development Support (PSR-PDS) is sponsored by the Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) and proposes to improve local and multi-modal access to Interstate 580 (I-580) and construct a 2-lane freeway to freeway connector between northbound (NB) US Route 101 (US 101) and eastbound (EB) Interstate 580 (I-580). The existing interchange does not have a direct connection for this direction of travel and vehicles currently must use local streets to complete this traffic move. The US 101/I-580 Multi-modal and Local Access Improvement project is located in the City of San Rafael, within Marin (Mrn) County, California. Project partners include the Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM), Caltrans, and the City of San Rafael. The project proposes to improve regional connectivity between northbound US-101 and eastbound I-580, by separating regional traffic from local traffic and placing it on the proposed direct connector, and to enhance multi-modal and local access in the area. The project limits are at the US 101/I-580 interchange along US 101 from PM 8.0 to PM 10.3 and along I-580 from PM 2.48 to PM 4.79. This project is funded by Regional Measure 3 (RM3) funds and TAM Measure AA.
