Description:
NJ TRANSIT proposes to proposes to construct the Northern Branch Corridor Project, a light-rail transit improvement in northeastern Hudson and southeastern Bergen Counties, New Jersey, through the restoration of passenger rail service on an existing freight rail line. The project consists of one alignment that would extend the existing light rail service from the current Hudson-Bergen Light Rail terminus at Tonnelle Avenue in Hudson County north to a new terminus at Englewood Hospital in Bergen County. The purpose of the project is to improve mobility within Hudson and Bergen Counties, alleviate some traffic congestion, and support continued economic growth by connecting Jersey City in Hudson County to Englewood in Bergen County.
