Description:
TxDOT proposes to reconstruct the existing State Loop (SL) 335 to a controlled access, divided four-lane facility with bicycle and pedestrian accommodations. The SL 335 proposed facility would consist of two 12-foot main lanes in each direction including 12-foot intermittent auxiliary lanes and 10-foot outside and 6-foot inside shoulders.
On the west side of US 87 the frontage roads will consist of two one-way lanes, with a 12-foot inside lane with a 4-foot inside shoulder and a 14-foot outside lane with curb and gutter including intermittent auxiliary lanes, and an 11-foot shared used path (SUP) along each side of SL 335 with a 5.5-foot flush median between the frontage roads and the SUP.
On the east side of US 87 the frontage roads will consist of two one-way lanes, with a 12-foot inside lane with curb and gutter and a 14-foot outside lane with curb and gutter, and an 11-foot shared used path (SUP) along each side of SL 335 with a 5.5-foot flush median between the frontage roads and the SUP.
The SL 335 improvements would include reconstruction along US 87 to upgrade the existing interchange with SL 335 with a standard frontage road box, improved vertical clearance, and direct connectors on the north side of SL 335 for WB SL 335 to NB US 87, EB SL 335 to NB US 87, SB US 87 to WB SL 335, and SB US 87 to EB SL 335.
The proposed US 87 facility north of SL 335 would consist of two 12-foot main lanes in each direction including 12-foot intermittent auxiliary lanes and 10-foot outside and 6-foot inside shoulders.
On the north side of SL 335 the frontage roads will consist of two one-way lanes, with a 12-foot inside lane with curb and gutter and a 14-foot outside lane with curb and gutter, and an 11-foot shared used path (SUP) along each side of US 87 with a 5.5-foot flush median between the frontage roads and the SUP.
The proposed US 87 facility south of SL 335 would consist of the two existing 12-foot main lanes and widening for auxiliary lanes in each direction with 10-foot outside and 6-foot inside shoulders.
On the south side of SL 335 the frontage roads will consist of two 11-foot lanes, a 2-foot delineated separation on the outside edge between vehicular traffic, and a 5-foot bicycle lane. A 6-foot sidewalk would be located outside the curb on each side.
The proposed facility would include an upgraded drainage system with multiple detention ponds; improved grade separations at major arterials along with connecting ramps; and a new interchange to accommodate a future arterial which would be added approximately one mile east of FM 1719. The total project length is approximately 7.5 miles. The total ROW proposed for acquisition includes displacements and is approximately 133.32 acres.
