Description:

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to rehabilitate SR 12 in three segments from PM 20.57/PM 22.70, PM 23.70/ PM 25.50, and PM 25.50/ PM 26.41. For Segment one, improvements will be made to improve highway safety and ride quality for users, ultimately extending the service life of the pavement for a minimum of 20 years. A safety edge with shoulder backing will be placed adjacent to the pavement edge along SR 12 in both directions to improve traffic safety. For Segment three, nonstandard guardrails, thrie-beam barriers, and ADA curb ramps will be brought up to the current standards. Existing degraded drainage systems, within the project footprint, will also be upgraded with new culverts, headwalls, inverts, and/or joints. New drainage systems may also be constructed as part of the Segment two and Segment one improvements on this Project. Finally Proposed Segment two improvements will include constructing new drainage systems, upgrading the existing roadway to standard 12-foot travel lanes, standard 8-foot shoulders, and repairing vertical curves.
