Description:
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), proposes the Sonora Junction Shoulders project on US 395, the purpose of this project is to enhance highway safety and make the road accessible to multiple modes of transportation. The project is needed due to the existing 2ft shoulders not meeting current design standards. The proposed project has 3 "build" and one "no-build" alternative. The build alternatives range from full 8ft wide shoulders throughout the project limits, 4ft shoulders throughout, and a hybrid (variable 8ft and 4ft) throughout.
