Description:
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) proposes to improve US 271 from Loop 286 in Paris, Lamar County, Texas to SH 37 in Red River County, Texas. The total project length is approximately 20.6 miles and is comprised of three unique roadway segments with corresponding CSJs.
0221-01-078 includes widening US 271 from a 2 lane highway to a 4 lane divided highway along US 271 from Loop 286 in Paris, Lamar County, Texas to Pattonville, Lamar County, Texas. This segment also includes interchange improvements at the existing Loop 286 and US 271 interchange as well as minor improvements to the geometric design and turning movements of minor connecting roadways including Woodall Field Drive, Cobb Ranch Road, County Road (CR) 1508, and Farm-to-Market Road (FM)196.
0221-01-079 includes widening US 271 from a 2 lane highway to a 4 lane divided highway from Pattonville, Lamar County, Texas to the Red River County Line. This segment also includes minor improvements to the geometric design and turning movements of minor connecting roadways including FM 196, Monroe Street, Main Street in the City of Deport, and Farm-to-Market Road (FM) 1149.
0221-02-028 includes widening US 271 from a 2 lane highway to a 4 lane divided highway from the Lamar County Line to State Highway (SH) 37 in Red River County, Texas. This segment also includes minor improvements to the geometric design and turning movements at the intersections FM 410 and SH 37.
The existing typical right-of-way width of the US 271 2-lane undivided facility varies from 100 to 200 feet. In order to facilitate the proposed improvements along US 271 a proposed typical section width of 122-325 feet of right-of-way is proposed. This would include the acquisition of new right-of-way. The proposed project includes expansion of the four-lane facility primarily to the south of the existing roadway from Station 556+00 to 840+00 (north of Pattonville, Texas) and relocating the US 271 roadway corridor from Pattonville to the City of Bogata at SH 37. The environmental study area includes a total area of 124.2 acres of new ROW to accommodate the proposed build alternative. Additionally, the proposed project is located on 455.19 acres of existing ROW and 10.98 acres of existing easements. The total project area is 590.37 acres in size.
