Description:

The project is a conjoined effort between the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT). The project will extend a total of 2.1 miles, to include the new construction of pavement surface for US 70/84, from approximately 0.2 miles east of the Texas (TX) and New Mexico (NM) Stateline, to approximately 1.72 miles west of the TX and NM Stateline.

The project will also include work on SH 348 for approximately 0.2 miles north of Avenue D to the newly aligned US 70/84. The project would also include the construction of a bridge structure and its associated ramps to transition into US 60/70/84 mainlanes in Texico, New Mexico (NM). The bridge structure will be aligned vertically, from the existing US 60/70/84 roadway, and span the existing BNSF railway. The project will also extend state route 108 in Texico, NM to the south side of US 60 on S. College Street.

The project will require the acquisition of approximately 42 acres in NM, and approximately 2 acres in TX. This includes the acquisition of an unpaved alley to extend SH 348 from Avenue D to the newly aligned US 70/84 in Texico, NM. The project would also include acquisition of 1,050 feet of right of way along the south side of US 60 from the intersection of US 60 and N College St. to the newly aligned US 70/84 roadway.

The project will require acquisition of right-of-way (ROW) in TX to realign the approach and entrance from 1st Street onto US 70/84 in Farwell, TX; with approximately 2 acres. The project will also include the rehabilitation of the existing US 60 roadway and will have construction activities take place within the existing variable width ROW.
The project limits are from the NM Stateline to 0.25 miles west of N. Curry Rd. C on US 60/70/84 in Texico, NM to 3rds Street in Farwell, TX.
