Description:

A 1.8-mile extension to its existing bus rapid transit (BRT) service (the “RAPID”) operating in the Virginia Street corridor from its existing northern terminus at the 4TH STREET STATION transfer terminal in Downtown Reno to the UNR campus. The Project includes building fi ve new RAPID stations and upgrading three existing RAPID stations, right-of-way acquisition, exclusive bus lanes, traffi c signal priority at fi ve intersections, off -board fare collection, level boarding, and real-time bus arrival information at stations. Th e Project also includes the purchase of two 60-foot electric articulated buses, construction of two roundabouts at intersections to improve bus turning movements and enhance traffi c operations and safety, and sidewalk and crosswalk infrastructure improvements to enhance the pedestrian and bicycle network and visibility in the corridor. The boundaries of the 3.23-mile Virginia Street Bus RAPID Transit Extension Project are Plumb Lane/South Virginia Street to the south and the UNR Lawlor Events Center at approximately 15th Street/North Virginia Street to the north.
