Description:
As of March 23, 2018, DOE and Clean Line Energy Partners have mutually agreed to terminate their Participation Agreement. NextEra Energy Resources has acquired Plains and Eastern Clean Line Oklahoma LLC and all of the assets for the transmission project in Oklahoma. Archived Project Description: Clean Line seeks the Department’s participation in the development, siting, construction, operation, maintenance, and ownership of high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission facilities running approximately 705 miles from western Oklahoma to the Arkansas-Tennessee border (the Project). Clean Line, acting on its own and without the Department’s participation, would build additional facilities that would connect to the Project in Texas and Tennessee. The Project would deliver up to 4,000 megawatts (MW) of primarily wind generation from the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle region to the mid-South and Southeastern United States, which could meet the annual energy needs of more than 1.5 million average American homes.
